Dear family,
Today I send you back my civilian clothes. The package didn’t quite turn out well. I hope though it all arrives in one piece. I have some chores for Hanne [his (youngest?) sister] If she can send me 1 pair of Stauchen [?], and furthermore from father’s diary a list of all the birthdays of all the different family members. I have plenty of time to write, and a Feldpost card only costs 1 pfennig. I find that it always leaves such a good impression. We have been checked today, and thereby definitely accepted.

Liebe Familie. Ich schicke Euch heute meinen Zivilkleider zurück. Das Paket ist ziemlich slecht geraten. Ich hoffe aber das er heil ankommt. Für Hanne habe ich noch verschiedene Arbeiten. Sie kann mir nog 1 paar Stauchen [?]  schicken außerdem kann die mir aus Vaters Kalender ein liste von die Geburtstage der verschiedene Familienmitglieder schicken. Ich habe hier viel zeit zum schreiben, und eine Feldpostkarte kostet ja nur eine Pfennig. Ich finde das macht immer eine so gute Eindruck. Wir sind heute untersucht und damit endgültig angenommen worden. Mit vielen grüßen   Euer Fritz

PS: there is one word on this postcard that I cannot place : I read it as "Stauchen", but I have no idea what that could mean. Whatever it is it comes in pairs apparently , because Fritz asks his sister to send him a pair.
